Surveys and interviews were not necessary for this project. I was able to conduct an audit on the initial version of the yaymoody.com. Within the audit, I determined the content was not up to date, and the overall website navigation had opportunities to become more simplified.
After I completed the website audit on all 5 pages of the website, I believed it would be best to consolidate the 5 pages into 3. After determining that, I also realized that the media player on the website did not provide the artist with any stream counts when music was being played on the website. Being that independent artists strive most from music streams, I wanted to alter the method in which Yay Moody's music was played on his platform. Lastly, there were some color contrast issues which required updating.
Keeping the potential users in mind, I wanted to make sure that the landing page had the necessary information and was responsive for mobile and desktop devices. I understand that most people pay for a music steaming platform and would prefer to listen to their music on the respective platform. With that, I decided to get rid of the initial music player that was on the website and decided to create smart links for each of his releases. The smart links will allow the users to pick the song which they would like to listen to, and give them the option to what platform they would like to listen to it on.
I additionally thought of a new set of colors to rebrand the website and to help with the prior contrast issues.
I additionally designed a mobile version of this website.
I created user flows for what a typical user would do on the website. With these user flows in mind, I conducted two usability tests. There were not any observed issues regarding the simplicity of navigation throughout the website. However, this testing phase helped me discover opportunities to improve on the typefaces and minor spacing issues. I then made the necessary updates to make "publish-ready". This website is currently live.
